The York Theatre Company in association with Riki Kane Larimer will present a revised version of Vanities鈥擳he Musical at The Theatre at St. Jean's. The limited engagement will begin previews March 22 and open March 30 for a run through April 22.

Featuring a book by Jack Heifner and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, Vanities鈥擳he Musical follows three women from 1963 to 1990 as they go from adolescence to adulthood. As they grow, Joanne, Kathy, and Mary push the boundaries of who they they thought they were and what society tells them about being women. It is based on the play by Jack Heifner, who also penned the book for the musical adaptation.

Will Pomerantz will helm the production with music direction by Deborah Abramson, and choreography by Shannon Lewis. The creative team will also include scenic designer and York Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director James Morgan, costume designer Barbara Erin Delo, lighting designer Mike Billings. Serving as production stage manager will be Sean F. Patrick. Casting, which will be by Rachel Hoffman/The Telsey Office, will be announced at a later date..

"I鈥檝e had my eye on Vanities for The York since it was announced as a musical, and we believe it resonates even more powerfully today, in these times when women鈥檚 rights are under attack,鈥 said Morgan in a statement.

The work originally made its New York City premiere at Second Stage, and was subsequently revised by Heifner and Kirshenbaum for a staging by 5th Avenue Theatre and ACT in Seattle. The revised version made its London premiere at Trafalgar Studios.
